L1: "which" ・どちら

When asking about a partner's preferences of a limited number of options, use "which" rather than "what". Take a look at the following examples

相手の好みを尋ねる際、限定された選択肢がある場合は what ではなく which を使います。

"Red, Green, Blue. What Colour Do You like?"

この例文では、"red, green, blue" の例えに限らず、好きな色を訪ねます。

"Red, Green, Blue. Which Colour Do You like?"

この例文では、"red, green, blue" の中で好きな色を訪ねます。

L2: 仮定法

英語では、現実ではないことや過去に起きなかったことについて話すときに、特別な条件文を使います。

今や未来のことについて

第二条件文と言われてるのは、

「もし〜だったら（でも実際は違う）」

という想像・仮定・アドバイスを表します。

例：If I Were You, I Would Talk to Him.

（今はそうじゃないけど、そうだったら〜）

1. 条件節：if + 過去形
2. 主節：would + 現在形

過去のことについて、

第三条件文と言われてるのは、

「もし〜していたら（でも実際はしなかった）」

という後悔・反省・結果の想像を表します。

例：If I Had Studied Harder, I Would Have Passed the Test.

（実際は勉強しなかった）

1. 条件節：if + 過去完了形 (had + 過去分詞)
2. 主節：would + 現在過去形（have + 過去分詞）
